A Resolution Authorizing The City Manager To Enter Into A Contract To Purchase One (1) Leaf Vac Truck And Appurtenant Equipment Thereto For The Public Works Division, Waiving Formal Bidding Requirements, And Declaring An Emergency.
Purpose and Background
Within the parameters of the 2014 Public Works budget, the need for the procurement of a new leaf vac exists. The Public Works Division is requesting legislation authorizing an amount for procurement of a new model in an amount not to exceed $156,000. The quotation from Best Equipment Co., Inc. under the National Joint Powers Alliance Contract #060612-ODB Cooperative Purchasing Program is $150,295.52 for a 2014 Freightliner chassis, which will be outfitted with complete leaf pick up equipment appurtenant to the duties of the Public Works Division at an estimated contract price of $150,295.52. The final estimated price of the vehicle will include a two-way radio system provided by the current vendor, P&R Communications, in a total amount not to exceed $156,000. The Public Works Division is requesting waiver of bidding requirements for the equipment under Section 171.12(a)(1) of the City’s Codified Ordinances because only one source for the specialized equipment to be integral with the particular truck chassis is reasonably available.
The Public Works Division would like to proceed with the procurement of this piece of equipment in the timeliest manner due to fact this piece of equipment is essential to the future operation of the Public Works Division.
